To Understand Why The GOP Is In Bad Shape, Visit The Virgin Megastore Before It Closes!
There is a fascinating and insightful metaphor going on before our eyes at The Virgin Megastore. It reveals why Americans voted for George Bush for 8 years - and why they finally woke up.
A month ago, Virgin was selling DVD's for $10. Now that the store is closing, they have removed the $10 stickers and are selling DVD's for 20% off their original price!
It's a great deal - until you do the math.
A typical DVD, originally priced at $19.99 is now 20% off - or $16. So a DVD going for $10 a month ago is now going to cost you an extra six dollars!
Guess what? Nobody is being fooled - and nobody is buying Virgin DVD's at the increased "sale" price. For a laugh, watch people eagerly pick up a DVD, do some quick math - and then quickly put it back!
The GOP can learn from this, but of course, they refuse to.
When Americans are fat and happy, they buy anything, at any price. They buy idiotic gas guzzlers and pay $4 a gallon for gas and they trust hedge fund managers no matter how obvious the scam is. Americans see wealthy people getting away with little or no taxes, while they can barely afford decent healthcare.
After George W. Bush left our economy in a shambles, the GOP figured it would be business as usual. One look at their so-called "budget plan" and it's obvious they still act like it's business as usual.
The difference now is that Americans are "doing the math". The deals the GOP offered them in the past are finally getting looked at carefully.
If you get lazy and stupid again - and you feel like voting for the GOP again, just remember why you don't pay $16 for a DVD that should cost $10.
As for Mr. Branson and the brilliant marketing execs at Virgin, well, you might want to drop the price on the DVD's - or figure out a way you can safely use them as landfill.
