This race is going to tighten a lot, eventually, but as of right now Ohio Republican Rob Portman isn't showing a lot of strength despite having a lot of coin.
Despite the fact that his Democratic opponents, Lee Fisher and Jennifer Brunner, aren't especially well-known, they both sport healthy leads over Portman. Fisher, the slight favorite for the nomination, leads by double digits.
Quinnipiac. 5/1-3. Registered voters. MoE 4.9%. (March numbers)
Lee Fisher (D) 42 (41)
Rob Portman (R) 31 (33)
Jennifer Brunner (D) 40 (39)
Rob Portman (R) 32 (34)
The numbers for the gubernatorial race, pitting incumbent Ted Strickland against former U.S. Senator Mike DeWine and former Rep. John Kasich, also look pretty fab for Team Democrat:
Ted Strickland (D-inc) 48 (50)
Mike DeWine (R) 36 (34)
Ted Strickland (D-inc) 51 (51)
John Kasich (R) 32 (31)
The GOP has some excellent potential recruits in these races, but even their best may not be enough in this state.
