Gee whiz. Ol' NPR just has some trouble with the word "torture."
Earlier this week, anchor man Robert Siegel on All Things Considered referred to "the alleged torture memos".
Hmmmm. Pairing the two words "alleged" and "torture" must have seemed like going out on quite a limb, for Mr. Siegel.
And today, in a blurb for tomorrow's Friday Roundtable, Diane Rehm told us that one of the topics that will be discussed will be "the enhanced interrogation memos".
Well, gosh, Dianne, don't strain yourself.
I guess these folks could try standing in front of a mirror and practice saying the word "torture" a hundred times, or until they can otherwise croak it out without fainting.
Tom Tomorrow's take on what we talk about when we talk about torture, if you haven't seen it yet. (See if you can spot Mr. Siegel and Ms Rehm! ; - )
