This is just a personal little non-diary. Since President Truman seems to be invoked by pols of all stripes, I think it is worth noting that this is the 125th anniversary of his birth. He was a man of his time with flaws and genius rolled into his sturdy little frame. I think he was partial to opinionated little girls. He sent my parents a nice letter from the White House when he was told a story about me kicking a doctor who resembled Thomas Dewey. OK, I was only 4, but I really did think it was Dewey! And he was coming at me with a tongue depressor! The letter said, "She has the right idea. Tell her to keep it up." I consider that an executive order to be as obnoxious as necessary. No President since has told me quit.
