Regarding Tasini's excellent diary about the fact that there is, indeed, class warfare...
I no longer have cable so I don't know whether CNBC covered this recent SEIU protest in New York. Somehow I doubt it. I know that I never saw any U.S. network coverage of it. Perhaps it was covered but I just wasn't watching at the right time?
From May 2, 2009 on Australia's SBS Dateline Program:
This week a demonstration outside the Bank of America in New York gave hundreds of workers the opportunity to rage against the big end of town responsible for the current financial mess.
Dateline's Nick Lazaredes checks out the rally and then takes us to a soup kitchen where the new middle class poor line up for a meal.
We also visit the 405 club where former 'masters of the universe', now spend their time wondering what went wrong - and practice how write out a good CV.
The club is named after the amount of dole these former high flyers are paid each week as they fruitlessly search for a way back into the rapidly shrinking workforce.
You can, and I hope you do, watch the report here.
SBS Dateline also had a good interview of Joseph Stiglitz. Video of the Stiglitz interview is available here.
