MSNBC reports that RNC chairman Michael Steele is going to make a speech tomorrow to the state party chairmen, in which he will look forward to the future:
The era of apologizing for Republican mistakes of the past is now officially over. It is done,
So running the economy into the ground and being involved in two quagmire wars? Seems that's business as usual and we'll just have to suck that up.
We have turned the page, we have turned the corner. No more looking in the rearview mirror.
Will Steele say, as he will refer to Ronald Reagan just a few sentences later. Maybe they really do have plans to resurrect St. Ronnie.
According to MSNBC:
Steele, who was elected to head the party in January, will say the GOP is now "beginning to rally" at the grassroots level after losing control of the White House and additional seats in the Senate and House in November.
Because losing a House seat in a district where you party has a double digit registration advantage is the sure sign of a rally. In financial news, RNC chairman Michael Steele is worried about the way the Dow Jones index is going under Obama after the strong rally at the end of the Bush presidency.
More Steele wisdom:
Republicans may be the minority party at the moment, but we represent the ideas and concerns of the majority of Americans, Candidate Obama was very moderate in his views, but President Obama could not possibly be further to the far left.
as Obama still enjoys a 67% approval rating. I guess if you have problems with education and science and logic, 33% looks bigger than 67%.
And Steele will also say:
We are going to take this President on with class, we are going to take this President on with dignity, this will be a very sharp and marked contrast to the shabby and classless way that the Democrats and the far left spoke of the last President.
while the top news item on the RNC website is how their new video accuses Obama of buying a $2000 dog. In Republican circles, nothing says class and dignity like attacking someone for his pet. Ok, maybe nothing except attacking someone for the kind of condiment he has on his burger or calling the President unAmerican.
And to round it off from CNN:
The RNC meeting wraps up on Wednesday with a scheduled vote on a controversial resolution that calls on Democrats to rename their party the "Democrat Socialist Party."
Actually, nothing really says class and dignity like calling your opponent silly names.
Ok, George Soros, own up, how much did it cost you to plant this mole?
UPDATE:
From The Hill
If the meeting achieves quorum, RNC members will vote on a proposal to label rival Democrats the "Democrat-Socialist Party"; a resolution calling on members of Congress to forgo earmarks; and a measure thanking Republican members of Congress for voting against bailout and stimulus legislation, while implicitly condemning votes in favor of that legislation by Sens. Olympia Snowe (R-Maine) and Susan Collins (R-Maine).
The purges will continue until a majority is achieved.
