Much as been report in this Sunday diary, and I invite you to take knowledge of it.
As reported via Voice of America, WHO Director-General Margaret Chan told representatives of 193 countries that they cannot afford to let down their guard in a world that is highly mobile and interdependent. She noted everyone is under pressure to make urgent far-reaching decisions in an atmosphere of considerable scientific uncertainty.
We need to warn the public when necessary, but reassure them whenever possible. This is a difficult balancing act," she said.
We must now become Aware of what is going on but mostly what we can do individually and collectively in such circonstances.
In the WHO Influenza A(H1N1) - update 32, you can have acces to their map of confirmed cases and deaths here.
As you can notice the sole continent unreported in the WHO updates is Africa. There are reasons for this, overwhelmed by Health problems understaff and mostly with a lack of capacity of detection does not mean nothing is going on in Africa.
Here is what we learn from All Africa News
"This is a time of great uncertainty and great pressure on governments, ministries of health and WHO," WHO Director-General Margaret Chan told meeting attendees. "I take it as my personal responsibility to keep the world informed, to adjust our recommendations as the situation evolves and to prepare for a multiplicity of future scenarios." She added, "Many critical measures are under way, for enhanced preparedness and for mitigation of the health effects. As I have consistently stated, gaps in response, coping and mitigation capacities in different countries must be a top priority for WHO and the international community."
This estimation of severity could change, Chan said, because of the intrinsic ability of influenza viruses to mutate and other factors.
"First, scientists are concerned about possible changes that could take place as the virus spreads to the Southern Hemisphere and encounters currently circulating human viruses as the normal influenza season in this hemisphere begins," Chan said.
"Second ... the H5N1 avian influenza virus is endemic in poultry in some parts of the world," she said. "It is out there, entrenched. No one can predict how the H5N1 virus will behave under the pressure of a H1N1 pandemic."
Again, since each of us CAN make a difference take a few minutes to take knowledge of the following hyperlinks to learn or remind you of what we, individually, can do to contribute in reducing morbidity and mortality in our Families and Communities in pace with the unfolding events.

When one looks at the definition of the WHO Phase 6 (Declaration of World Wide Pandemic), you will notice that we are already in it. But the declaration of it should take few more days to help countries implement their responses in conformity of their pandemic preparedness plan.
I ahve many contacts in many countries and it is evident for me that this delay in the declaration of Phase six is a question of pragmatism nothing else.
There will be huge economical consequences once the declaration is made and it is very important that different cultures managed to inform their MSM on the factual datas. Up to now this is not a redux of the traumatic event of the Great Influenza of 1918-1920.
Many pro-active people in the field really hope that the Mainstream Media will disregard their common belief in "When it blead it lead attitude" at least for the sake of the well being of their own citizens.
Because if you look at the datas available, globally and locally taking such an attitude would be misleading, innacurate. and generate more insecurities.
Because doing so make things worst.
Just inform not inflame.
