I was just watching President Obama interviewed on C-Span. The one thing I was waiting to hear him say was that he was going to include the public option in any future healthcare plan debate.
Things have reaLLY changed in his words since the election on Healthcare. He no longer mentions the public option at all in speeches. Has anyone else noticed that? All he says is reducing cost and preserving choice? Where is the public plan in his view anymore? he never says the words, so we dont know! Dr. Dean says it every time, and explains it very well!!!
In the primary, and the general election Senator Obama used to always say in EVERY SPEECH!!!
"if you like your healthcare coverage, you can keep what you have, but we are just going to lower the costs of your premiums."
"If you dont have insurance, or dont like your current policy, we want to create a public plan that is just like the one we have in congress. One that covers everyone, even if you have a pre existning condition"
Thats how he got elected!
Read on the bottom for more!
I have noticed recently that he no longer ever even mentions the words public option, and today not only didnt he mention it, but said that he just wanted to make sure that everyone has some sort of coverage. "It may not be the gold plated Cadilac of plans, but at least you would have something" Excuse me, but that is a two tier system. Not good!
That is not what I voted for. He left single payer reps out completly, and he is already caving to the insurance companies, and I fear that he is going to sell us out just to make sure he gets something done in writing, even if it isnt that great!
I feel that these guys in the senate have already excluded a real public plan, and are just stringing the public alone as they sell us out to the Insurance industry!!! Obama is just letting these guys write this bullshit when he should be crafting his plan! This is his legacy!
The public Option was the only thing scaring the insurance companies into any action at all.
First they said that they would cover people with pre existing conditions if everyone got insurance. Then they said they would cut costs by two trillon. (They already walked back on that) We cant trust these people at all. They are evil!!!
I dont understand when we could pass anything we want through reconsiliation, that he is even negotiating with these people at all!!!
I want a recommitment by the President to the public option at the very least! Its the only real reform that will change anything!
If we on the left dont make real noise about this right now, this bill will be written in secret without our influence, and he will say it was a compomise, and we will get left out in the cold with a plan like Massachusett's crappy insurance Mandate. Hell, we could have got that with any republican! We have to draw the line in the sand and not let him give away our public option!
