Hi everyone. I am not a usual diary writer (and by the end of this diary, I am sure I will get several comments suggesting it stay that way!), but I felt that now was as good a time as any for me to say a little something.
I have seen so many utterly ridiculous diaries in the past few days. It seems that many diary writers have an inflated view of their own talents as observers of American society. Nevertheless, these diaries get rec'd and commented on, and thus create a discussion.
I came across this http://www.washingtonpost.com/... by E.J. Dionne Jr. today. Indeed, Rush and Newt are winning.
While we are debating who is a Christian and if Jesus is responsible for the death of Dr. Tiller, the folks on the right are steering the dialogue further and further right. While we discuss whether or not Hannity is an ass (and he is), Rush and his crew are painting anything Obama does as extreme leftism. While we talk about ways to make Fox change its ways, the folks on the right are making sure CNN spews the same crap.
The Republicans lost an election, and may very well lose a couple more in the near future. However, that does not mean they can not and are not influencing the political agenda of this country.
So while its fun to call out a religion or to make fun of Hannity or to talk about conspiracy theories, it might be worth our while to have a real debate about how to take back the agenda from the fools on the right. It might be a good time to remember the energy and focus it took to get President Obama elected. We can sit on our asses and ridicule the right or we can take them on head on.
I fully expect this diary to be ridiculed. I am not a great writer and I do not have the patience to write something much longer and meaningful. If one thing sticks with you from this diary, I hope its that these clowns on the right may have lost an election, but that has not stopped them from influencing the politics of this country.
p.s. I really am sorry for such a short diary and am always impressed by the people who write really long and in depth ones (even if I don't much care for what they have to say).
