Apologies for the brief diary but I simply need to know what the answer would be from certain prominent Republicans who have vociferously publicly advocated for "enhanced interrogation techniques" to one simple question....
The Jack Bauer/ticking time-bomb/straw-man argument has actually arrived. But the question is; Will Republicans have the courage to call for the use of the techniques they swear will save American lives?........Will they have the courage to call for these techniques to be used on Scott Roeder?
I could write a diary regarding the horror of the George Tiller murder as long as War and Peace but this is anotehr issue. If we can define terrorism as
- the use of violence and threats to intimidate or coerce, esp. for political purposes.
- the state of fear and submission produced by terrorism or terrorization.
- a terroristic method of governing or of resisting a government.
then we can assume that the organized murder of abortion doctors fits the definition. Therefore Scott Roeder is a de facto terrorist.
We now know through his interviews uopn his arrest that he knows of similar murders that are being plotted around the country RIGHT NOW.
From the AP
....I know there are many other similar events planned around the country as long as abortion remains legal," Roeder said. When asked by the AP what he meant and if he was referring to another shooting, he refused to elaborate further.
It wasn't clear whether Roeder knew of any impending violence or whether he was simply seeking publicity for his cause. Law enforcement authorities including the Justice Department said they didn't know whether the threat was credible.
So the ticking time-bomb scenario is here. But it's not some brown guy with a funny-sounding name. No. It's a white, god-fearing christian soldier whose bible is his roadmap and Jesus is his savior.
If an Islamic terrorist caught red-handed murdering Americans said the same thing, would there be any hesitation in the right-wing reaction?
Let's ask O'Reilly, Hannity, Limbaugh, et al. Here's hoping that our marvelous MSM will actually get out in front of this and find out if the conservative rules of engagement apply to one of their own.
