You have heard them say this over and over again.. "We will never get Single Payer now" "Maybe in 20 years, we will have Single Payer" etc.
They want us to think that only a few Americans want universal healthcare for all. They have many other reasons why we can't do it. There are many threads in the propaganda war..
There is also a media quarantine on single payer. According to FAIR, the MSM seems to have decided among themselves not to cover it. At all. Out of sight, out of mind?
Well, a similar war was waged over 40 years ago in Saskatchewan, Canada. It led to all of Canada being won over by the persuasive, simple logic of putting your people's health first. And recently, Tommy Douglas, the man who made it all happen, was voted "The Greatest Canadian" of all time.
Thats the real story. That is the level of gratitude the Canadian people have for the man whose foresight gave them their healthcare system.
And that popularity it has, that universal SUPPORT that Canadians have for THEIR health care plan, if a similar plan were to be enected in the US, is the right's greatest FEAR.
Please take a few moments to think about the beautiful logic of saving money by saving lives. Please also take a moment to think about the twisted logic of denying care to steal money from people who have paid to have security. Please take a moment to think, is it ever going to end? Is taking more and more for less and less the frame we want to be buying into? Doesn't it make more sense to REACH OUT TO ALL AMERICANS AND BREAK FREE OF THE FEAR.
It took a lot of vision for John F. Kennedy to tell all Americans that "WE CHOOSE TO GO TO THE MOON"
It must have sounded crazy, but as we know now, it wasn't. Engineers and scientists had told JFK that we could do it. WE COULD DO IT. IF WE CHOSE TO.
WE CAN DO IT, EASILY-
- IF WE CHOOSE TO
I've met many people who chose to do things that others said were impossible. Those people are the people who make humanity's lot in life better. Without them, things would never change.
They are the people who make life worth living. And the nay sayers are the people who make us want to die. Which choice will we make, will we choose death, or life?
Going to the moon took millions of man hours and a precision of purpose that still, to us now 40 years later, seems superhuman, but it was very human. And we can do it again. We can go to the planets, and we can eventually go to the stars. If we survive that long.
We wont survive that long if our currency is FEAR.
We won't survive that long if our world is held together by sticks instead of carrots,
We can do lots of things that some may say are impossible. In fact, we are doing them right now. Lots of people do them, while right next door other people say, "That will never be done".
In relative terms, of the difficult and merely hard, FREE HEALTHCARE FOR ALL is a FAR LESS DAUNTING TASK than "impossible".. because Tommy Douglas showed us the way. Its not "terra incognita".
Its even CHEAPER than what we do now. We can go from where we are now to there. IF WE CAN FIGURE OUT HOW TO GO TO THE MOON, WE CAN DO THIS.
Our lives depend on it.
We can do it and we can draw upon our next door neighbor Canada's experience to help us do so. And by doing that the Democrats can make America whole again.
