It is offensive to the sensibilities of millions of people to hear a member of the state-run media refer to a half-black, half-white human being with no experience running anything of substance referred to as a god. He may be president of the United States, but he's not a god.
Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said President Barack Obama’s plan to fix the economy through stimulus spending and government intervention to boost companies like General Motors Corp. has "already failed."
Of course, stock market is up 10% since Obama took office (after taking what, a 40-percent drop the last year Bush was in office?), and remember how those first few weeks of Obama's presidency, the stock market was the ultimate arbiter of how Obama was doing? Poor Republicans can't keep it all straight.
And really, Republicans need to pace themselves. Obama will be president another 92 weeks.
[T]he Supreme Court today held 5-4 (along predictable ideological lines with Kennedy as the swing vote) that West Virginia judge Brent Benjamin violated the due process rights of plaintiffs in a civil suit when he refused to recuse himself despite the fact that the chairman of the company appealing the verdict in favor of the plaintiffs had spent more than $3 million on Benjamin's campaign. Kennedy's opinion for the Court emphasized the extreme nature of the facts in holding that the appearance of bias in this case could not be consistent with due process.
Shocking that the conservatives on the court have no problem with judges ruling on cases dealing with parties who have dumped millions of dollars into that judge's coffers. And I'm not being facetious -- I honestly can't believe anyone would think that litigants should be literally able to buy judges.
Update: Adam B posted on it yesterday. So much stuff happening on dKos, even I miss stuff!
Asked whether there was any doubt that a pandemic was under way, [WHO's Keiji] Fukuda told a weekly teleconference: "We are really getting very close to that."
I have great respect for Keiji, but if we move any slower, it'll be over by the time we declare anything --DemFromCT
