It's one of those "I can't believe nobody caught this yet" deals.
Maybe they did. I looked through recent diaries and couldn't find anything. Maybe I missed something.
But it looks to me like we have exact congruence between the rationales for murder given by a domestic Muslim terrorist and a domestic anti-abortion terrorist.
Suspect: Recruiting Center Shootings Justified
12:25 AM ET Wed.10.Jun.09
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) -- A Muslim convert charged with fatally shooting an American soldier at a military recruiting center said Tuesday that he doesn't consider the killing a murder because U.S. military action in the Middle East made the killing justified.
So if I read that real fast without enough coffee I get:
Suspect: Abortion Doctor Shooting Justified
"An antiabortionist charged with fatally shooting a doctor in Kansas said that he doesn't consider the killing a murder because abortion made the killing justified."
Is it really that easy? Rightwing American terrorists are using the exact same words as (supposedly leftist) Muslim terrorists.
I couldn't make this up if I had to.
Yes, the Arkansas Muslim doesn't prove all Muslims are terrorists. And not all antiabortionists are terrorists either, although the rhetoric of the latter is, in general, more inflammatory than that of the former. The Muslims actually seem to have more schools of thought than the antiabortionists do.
Sometimes irony is so hard it's shiny. Perhaps this is one of those times.
Anyway, I thought Kossacks would like to see actual proof of what many of us have suspected for a long time: American rightwingers use justifications for violence they find abhorrent when used by Muslims. But they are the same justifications.
That is, they are no justification at all. In either case.
