President Obama said in his speech in Cairo:
The first issue that we have to confront is violent extremism in all of its forms.
In Ankara, I made clear that America is not – and never will be – at war with Islam. We will, however, relentlessly confront violent extremists who pose a grave threat to our security. Because we reject the same thing that people of all faiths reject: the killing of innocent men, women, and children. And it is my first duty as President to protect the American people.
It is typical of President Obama's deft leadership style to subtly change the tone and clarify the mission of the tasks before us in our quest to maintain our country as a just, viable democracy, and to protect it from enemies foreign and domestic.
I keep thinking of the long history of violent extremism in our country, and I wonder how we can be shocked at this latest, saddest act of political violence. I see a pattern of domestic political violence and extremism in the last two years in this country.
Remember:
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — A man recently fired from a Target store barged into the Arkansas Democratic headquarters Wednesday and fatally shot the state party chairman before speeding off in his pickup. Police later shot and killed the suspect after a 30-mile chase.
Police identified the suspect as 50-year-old Timothy Dale Johnson of Searcy, a town about 50 miles northeast of Little Rock.
Remember:
An Arkansas man suspected in a shooting that killed one soldier and wounded another at a Little Rock military recruiting center was angry over the treatment of Muslims, authorities said Tuesday.
Pvt. William Long, 23, of Conway, Arkansas, was killed in Monday's attack.
1 of 2 Abdulhakim Bledsoe, 23, of Little Rock, also told police he recently watched a video "pertaining to subversive activities which spurred him to commit this act," according to court documents.
Remember:
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — An out-of-work truck driver accused of opening fire at a Unitarian church, killing two people, left behind a note suggesting that he targeted the congregation out of hatred for its liberal policies, including its acceptance of gays, authorities said Monday.
A four-page letter found in Jim D. Adkisson's small SUV indicated he intentionally targeted the Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church because, the police chief said, "he hated the liberal movement" and was upset with "liberals in general as well as gays."
Remember:
In another incident highlighted by civil rights activists, three Pittsburgh police officers were gunned down in April. The alleged shooter, Richard Poplawski, 23, reportedly told friends that he feared losing his cache of weapons to "Obama gun laws." Poplawski, who appears to have been a regular contributor to white supremacist Web sites, also railed against Jewish control of the media and banks, friends said.
Also in April, two sheriffs deputies in northern Florida were killed in a shootout with a national guard soldier, Joshua Cartwright, as they tried to arrest him for domestic abuse. Cartwright, who was also killed in the exchange, was reportedly "severely disturbed" over Obama’s election and felt the U.S. government was conspiring against him.

Remember that the DHS report actually says::
DHS/I&A assesses that lone wolves and small terrorist cells embracing violent rightwing extremist ideology are the most dangerous domestic terrorism threat in the United States. Information from law enforcement and nongovernmental organizations indicates lone wolves and small terrorist cells have shown intent—and, in some cases, the capability—to commit violent acts.
Remember:
Lone wolves are never really alone. They either see themselves as agents of a wider movement or actually are agents of a wider movement.
Other lone wolves include:
James Earl Ray
Sirhan Sirhan
Lee Harvey Oswald
Byron De La Beckwith
John Wilkes Booth
It takes only one lone bullet, and a lot of Hate Speech.
