Watch the video below to see JeffLieber and droogie6655321 take off in the Atlas V rocket headed to the Moon. They are trying to find some green cheese for their whine. OK. This diary really has nothing to do with JeffLieber or droogie6655321. Bait and switch. I just read several comments on the latest JeffLieber and droogie6655321 fan club diaries that swear just putting those two bloggers' names in my diary title is a surefire way of making the rec list. So like any good scientist/engineer I decided to test that hypothesis. I mean, what the hell. What have I got to lose? I want to join the fan club! Jump on the bandwagon. Go with the flow. Whatever works, as long I get on the rec list dammit! It is all cheese anyway. Check out the pootie pics! :D
In the meantime, NASA launched two lunar spacecraft - the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter and Lunar Crater Observation and Sensing Satellite (LRO/LCROSS) - early this evening around 5:32 pm EDT. LRO/LCROSS will be the first robotic missions launched by the United States to the Moon since 1994's Clementine mission. The mission is the first crucial step for NASA to return Americans to the Moon by hopefully 2020. See LRO launch video below.
The LRO main mission is to completely map the surface of the Moon so NASA has a comprehensive data base for of the lunar surface for selecting potential landing sites for the Altair lander and eventually a lunar base. The video below highlights the LRO mission. The LCROSS on the other hand will first guide an empty upper stage booster to a crater collide with the Moon and kick up enough dust for closeup analysis. The LCROSS will eventually follow suit and crach on the Moon too. Enjoy the view of the Earth! . .
Update: At the suggestion of a commenter I have added a couple of pootie pictures. Lol!
