I couldn't sleep last night and kept checking DK and the Web for updates from Iran. Same thing this morning. I find myself praying pretty much incessantly. I suspect many here are doing the same.
Although there are many chores needed before leaving for our son's wedding, I feel compelled to find a place to focus our collective prayers*, meditations and all good thoughts toward the people of Iran. I only hope they can feel the support across the miles.
Please join me in holding the brave people of Iran in our hearts:
My mind is filled with unease, but my heart feels the strength of those beautiful eyes.
Oh Creator, let us never forget that you are with us always.
Help us to remember that you shine through your people,
And that if we need to see your face,
All we must do is look into the eyes of another.
I pray for strength of heart and body for them.
In the name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful.
All praise belongs to God,
Lord of all worlds,
the Compassionate, the Merciful,
Ruler of Judgment Day.
It is You that we worship,
and to You we appeal for help.
Show us the straight way,
the way of those You have graced,
not of those on whom is Your wrath,
nor of those who wander astray.
--Qur'an, Al Fatihah 1:1-7 (Muslim prayer)
I pray for peace.
Better than if there were
thousands of meaningless words
Is one meaningful word
that on hearing brings peace.
--Dhammapada (Buddhist text)
