In Pat Boone's latest hate-screed against all that is progressive, a little piece called Christians, here come the lions, Pat begins with this arrogant warning:
This column is written for, and addressed to, America's Christians only. Well, maybe devout Jews as well, but no one else. People of other faiths, or no particular faith at all, probably won't comprehend the looming danger or see anything to be concerned about.
Pat Boone doesn't see his arrogance, of course, because as the holders of divine truth, who else but the Hate-vangelicals really understand how close we are to The End of Days? Certainly not the heathens reading this diary! Ya gotta love the extra-dose of xenophobia he throws in--America's Christians--because, ya know, those foreign types they just don't get it either. I gotta give the old crow this crumb though; he's right when he states that someone like me can't comprehend the looming danger or see anything to be concerned about now that Barack Obama is steering the ship.
Oh, hell yes, there's more Pat Boone below the fold!
Pat Boone lets the world know that not only has he boarded the Crazy Train, but he's got a first-class cabin seat (there's a pun here and a rec from me to the first commenter to explain it to the rest of the class).
Says Pat:
Our new president, his administration, a Congress and much of the judiciary ruled by ultra-liberal, "progressive" and humanistic men and women, egged on and abetted by the ACLU, are actively making plans and devising bills that will force Christians to either obey the new laws, or be fined, jailed – or who knows? Perhaps physically punished, imprisoned, or worse.
Wait a minute, you mean that under the Bush administration Christians didn't have to obey the law? (Go ahead Kossacks have at that). By calling "Much of the judiciary" ultra-liberals, I'm guessing Boone is leaving out Clarence Thomas, unless Boone is even more whacked-out than I think. Pat's "or worse" fear-phrase is supposed to invoke bloody images from the title of his nutty rant, but if he's talking about state-sponsored murder (and what could be worse than imprisonment or being physically punished for breaking a law?), then he has to look no further than all of those Evangelical Christian states in America that have the death penalty. Oh, the irony.
Although I was a little disappointed that he waited until the fourth paragraph to invoke the dreaded "homosexual activists" line (and even then it was only a link to a homophobic hate-book), given Pat's history, I was surprised to learn that teh gays have teamed up with Fortune 500 companies! I never got that memo! (I'm going out on a limb here: teh gays either dumped teh Jewish cabal for the Fortune 500 companies, or teh Jewish cabal constitute the Fortune 500 companies. Someone help me out here).
Pat goes on to demonize the ACLU, (a pasttime of his) before stating:
Finally, if Pelosi, Kennedy, Reid, Obama, et al., have their way, they will pass legislation that will stifle all conservative talk in media and even make preaching clear scripture "hate speech" if it disagrees with political correctness as they define it.
That's his G-rated way of saying, "God damn you Nancy Pelosi. How DARE you take away a CHRISTIAN'S HATE SPEECH!" After all, what's Christianity these days without the hate speech? For me the irony here is that while Pat Boone goes on to quote scripture, he seems to have forgotten that somewhere in The Bible there is a commandment to not lie. And equating hate speech to....uh, I dunno, the slaughter of Dr. Tiller, or hate crimes like this one or this one carried out by Evangelical Christians, is exactly that: a lie.
But, I'm afraid Pat Boone wants more than hate speech, given that he said that the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution (emphasis mine):
specifically guaranteed that government would absolutely keep its grubby hands off its citizens' freedom to exercise their faith however, whenever and wherever they choose?
That sounds like a license to kill; it doesn't sound like the kind of Christianity that most people practice.
UPDATE: RecList? Aw, shucks :)
