The cognitive dissonance on the topic of universal coverage (the "public option," and don't get me started on how bad our side is at the use of language that's easily understood by the "public" itself) boggles the logical mind.
How the public option can be bad both because government is so darned inefficient (yes, see: the military, social security, medicare!) and because it would run private healthcare out of business (uh, how would such a terribly inefficient system be able to run such stellar businesses out of town?) is a message they would seem to be unable to sell... and yet they are able to sell it.
And why? Because they have the greatest advertising company in the world: Media, LLC. And the greatest PR company in the world: Bought & Paid For Congress, Inc.
Ever notice how no one in the media seems to let anyone on the air to even voice the total illogic of these arguments? Wonder why? Because the media is owned by the same damned corporations who own big Pharma and Big Insurance. Why on earth would they let the opposition's voice get through on the airwaves? So they let the mealymouthed arguments on the air. The wishy washy, nonsensical, "what the hell did he just say? I guess socialized medicine IS the devil, Martha," arguments get a few minutes' counterpoint to the nonstop barrage of anti-logic, anti-public option propaganda we've been hearing ever since it became obvious Obama was going to even attempt healthcare reform.
And we wonder why it's looking like it's going to go down in flames.
