seriously - why do we have laws that make murder a crime? We all know murder is wrong, so why should we make it illegal? The market will sort it all out.
Of course, I suppose somebody will figure out a way to make a killing off of murder. That could really lead to some awkward social moments. Not to mention loss of life.
Still, you know... that's the price we pay to have a free society. "Let freedom ring," and all that rot.
And really... do we really have to make rape illegal? I mean christ, common sense tells you not to do that. There's NO way that decriminalizing rape could possibly lead to an increase in rape. Not in this man's America.
On the other hand, decriminalizing marijuana would lead to the end of the world. I mean, there could be an epic increase in the number of people who are actually chilling the frack out, and we can't have that. Total breakdown of the "Christian" work ethic. (Except for the dealers... they would actually exemplify the "Christian" work ethic. Hmmm... conundrum.)
Most importantly, we can't possibly go back to regulating Wall Street. I mean, passing laws that would help prevent some of the bloodsucking moneychangers from ripping us all off would be a horrible, tragic mistake.
Having your life savings get ripped off by legal thieves is a great character builder, ya know. Yup, you betcha. Also. And such as.
Ohh... teh futile... it buuurrrrrnnnnnssssss...
UPDATE: alright already, I added the "snark" tag. It's rant against the fracking moneychangers and profiteers, not so much a pro-weed diary. Although, should you choose to take it that way... I'm just sayin'.
