"That is exactly what's going on in Canada and Great Britian today, they don’t have the appreciation of life as we do in our society, apparently"
"this program of ‘government option’ is being touted as being the panacea, the savior of allowing people to have quality health care at an affordable price is gonna kill people"

Take ten paces, turn and mock at will.
Of course, Representative Paul Broun doesn't need to worry about waiting in line or being denied due to pre-existing conditions. He has FEHBP, which is an exchange of highly regulated private insurance plans from United, Kaiser, Blue Cross, and Aetna, and he pays about 35% of the premiums with the rest of us, the taxpayers, picking up the rest of the premiums, paid for by citizen taxes and ran through a Government program.
The great fear being played to people who can afford the best health care is that they will have to wait longer in line if a public option is included in health care. To which I say boo fucking hoo.
Representative Paul Broun (R-GA) specializes in fear mongering as well as pulling things out of his ass and calling it fact, but this is over the top, even by his standards.
The stauts quo where Murder by Spreadsheet denies people who pay for health insurance the ability to receive treatment doesn't kill people, apparently. Nope, nothing to see here.
But if we expand coverage to all Americans the skies will turn black and locusts will descend upon the free market, eating all of our crops and leaving America in a state of apocalypse that will make the rapture look like a bumper car ride at the county fair.
Mind you, Paul Brown has a few other gems like this under his belt.
"Of course it is sad to see a 23 month old child die from this disease. We don't have any specifics, I tried to find out this morning, the specifics about this child that has died, whether it was one from Mexico, possibly an illegal alien. . . "
- Rep. Paul Broun (R-GA)
The quote in question is in regards to the first victim to die in the USA of H1N1 Hybrid Swine Flu diesase.
You may also remember this little episode in Rep. Broun's career late last year.

" May sound a bit crazy and off base "

" You have to remember that Adolf Hitler was elected in a Democratic Germany. I'm not comparing (Obama) to Adolf Hitler, what I'm saying is there is the potential of going down that road."
I figure Paul Broun hasn't been a Worst Person in the World in a few weeks, so he is probably due for another visit about now.
That is not my point, though. Paul Broun doesn't need me to point out what a dishonest fool he is, he does a great job of that all by himself.
My point is rather simple. It is the meme of "Teh evil Govement" Yes, the Government can be capable of bad, bad things, but, if we assume that Government can NEVER help, we can be certain that it never will.
The memo plays out like this
Government Spending = Taxes
Taxes = Oppression
Therefore, Government Spending = Oppression
Frre markets = freedom
Which is so simple, even a caveman Conservative can figure it out.
So, while you are waiting for your Private Sector insurance to deny you over and over again despite the fact that you have been paying your insurance, remind yourself that if the private sector was all we in America had we would have levees breaking in New Orleans, bridges crashing in Minnesota, and all the wonderful infrastructure that the worst third world country wouldn't trade for all the Ipods in the world.
