In a few short weeks, some of us will be gathering for the empowering, educational, overwhelming experience that will be Netroots Nation 09.
But there's a problem: some important voices won't voices won't be there unless YOU help.
This is almost the LAST DAY you can express your support for candidates for a Democracy for America Netroots Nation Scholarship.
Please help !
Over the flip are all of the Daily Kos candidates for this round, our fellow Kossacks. We need to help them get to Netroots Nation. YOU needs to help them get to Netroots Nation.
It's easy and it doesn't cost anything.
Here are all the Kossacks who have applied for a Netroots Nation Scholarship. If I have left someone out, it was completely inadvertent and I apologize completely.:
Mike Bailey (testvet)
http://democracyforamerica.com/...
A disabled American vet, who uses the lessons he's learned in the Army and the Veterans's Administration system, to give hope to the soldiers, sailors, airmen, Marines and guardsmen that are struggling in their transition today and to fight to make the system better. He has saved lives. Mike's voice needs to be heard by all of the politicians who will be at Netroots Nation this year
River C-S (Kitsap River)
http://democracyforamerica.com/...
Every single day, River experiences what it is like to have your life put in danger because you didn't have health insurance. River has diabetes, and because she went untreated and undertreated for too long, her kidneys have suffered. Now she is on dialysis. Dialysis is a long, slow, tough slog, but River keeps fighting, because she must. But she's not just taking care of her own health she is also training to take care of other people's health, by becoming a nurse, and then a doctor. River's voice needs to be heard by all the politicians who will be at Netroots Nation this year. They are designing a new health insurance system that could save River's life, or horrifically, it could kill her. She deserves to be heard before that happens.
Una Spencer
http://democracyforamerica.com/...
As with River, Una fights the fight with the health care and insurance system in the United States every single day. Una has Lyme's Disease, and she wasn't diagnosed until many years after it inflicted itself upon her body, so like many others with this awful disease, it has been and continues to be very difficult to treat. Una's voice needs to be heard by every single politician at Netroots Nation this year. They need to hear her voice before they create a new health care and insurance system that could profoundly affect her life, and that of her young daughter. Please, give her the opportunity to speak to them face to face.
Something the Dog Said
http://democracyforamerica.com/...
Every week, The Dog posts his Weekly Torture Action Letter, encouraging everyone to tell their president, their senators and their congressional representatives that those who are responsible for torture under the Bush administration need to be held legally accountable. That is only one way that he helps in the fight against torture and for investigations and prosecutions. As someone whose mission is to stop torture as the law, policy and practice of the United, and to push to hold those responsible legally accountable, I NEED him there. He will make me a better advocate and scholar. Please, help him to be there.
Rachel Port (ramara)
http://democracyforamerica.com/...
A committed activist, former psychotherapist and musician, Rachel knows first hand the challenges of the SSDI system, and living on a fixed income. Bringing her to Netroots Nation this year would give Rachel's voice an opportunity to grow and to reach more people, including the politicians that design the system.
Muskegon Critic
http://democracyforamerica.com/...
Muskegon is a passionate advocate for the Great Lakes region which has been so devastated over the past several years, and the working class families who are trying to hold on with both fingernails. We need his voice at Netroots Nation this year. We need to hear the voices of those who have been left behind. The politicians who will be at Netroots Nation need to hear the voices of those who have been left behind.
Colorado is the Shiznit
http://democracyforamerica.com/...
Colorado is a fierce advocate, who always stands up and calls a spade a spade. We need that kind of bravery and forthrightness at Netroots Nation this year, in the blogosphere, and in the world today. Being at Netroots Nation would help empower her voice and give her even more background knowledge, and help connect her with equally passionate voices from around the United States.
Chris McGann (Casual Wednesday)
http://democracyforamerica.com/...
Chris a former journalist, who has a lot to teach us on how to get the media's attention, and how to work with them to get your message out there. He will make Netroots Nation this year stronger and better.
(And I really, really apologize for leaving him off the first publishing of this diary.)
Mark Howard (King One Eye)
http://democracyforamerica.com/...
An artist who helps to move the hearts and minds of those around him, and a committed and longtime advocate, we would benefit enormously from having Mark at this year's Netroots Nation.
CornSyrupAwareness
http://democracyforamerica.com/...
His name says it all. Corn Syrup Awareness is an important voice for food safety and sustainability. In this day, when there is so much to be done to make the food we eat more sustainable and more healthy, he needs to be at Netroots Nation this year to spread his knowledge and connect with other activists on this issue.
There they are, the Kossacks who have applied for a Democracy for America Netroots Nation Scholarship. This is almost the last day you can give them your support. Please go and support those whom you feel should be at NN09. You can support up to 10 candidates.
If you have already supported any of these candidates in previous rounds, please go back and support them agan in this round, because the support is wiped out after each round.
This is your last opportunity. This is the last round for this year.
Help make Netroots Nation be the best it can be,
by helping these candidates to get there,
With gratitude,
Hugs,
For Dan,
Heather
