A few months ago, I wrote a diary on how to stop being a throwaway society. I thought maybe a diary once in a while in which interested parties could give at tip or idea on how to help the environment might be a good idea. I have a very dear friend who was a hippie in a commune in the 60s, and she has lived an environmentally friendly life since then, and she always gives me lots of ideas on how to recycle, reuse and just plain be cheap with both product and money. I am always amazed at the quality of her life on a very meager yearly sum.
So, what is your environmental tip of the day? Mine is from my friend, Nanci. She reuses everything. She starts plants in her house in cans from sardines she feeds her dogs (no commercial dog food for her!) yogurt containers, any kind of can or container she has, she uses. She found white metal headboards at the dump she uses as borders in her garden to help keep the deer out, and she uses anything upright she can find that is not painted or pressure treated to grow beans. etc. She is incredibly resourceful, and I learn from her every single day on how to live so I have less of an effect on the planet.
Have any tips?? Please - share!
