Bryce Faulkner, a 23-year-old pre-med student from Arkansas has been missing since his family forced him into "reparative therapy" for homosexuality. Faulkner comes from a deeply religious family (i.e. conservative Christian fundamentalists), who gave him an ultimatum: either go to reparative therapy camp or we're cutting you off in every possible way.
It appears Bryce didn't have an option or stand a chance.
Friends say the college student was left with no choice, as his [Faulkner's] parents took away his phone, his car and his money.
Bryce's boyfriend, Travis Swanson (24), is leading the charge to find Faulkner.
Swanson said: "Bryce was taken to this place on June 15th. The last time I spoke with him was on that day around 4:30am.
"He called me and was crying uncontrollably saying, 'You should have heard the mean and hateful things they said about me. They made me read out loud passages from the Bible'.
"One of the last things he said to me before falling asleep was, 'Promise me you will be strong for me and for us'."
It's believed that Bryce may be in Pensacola, FL at an Exodus International ministry site. Exodus International is a church movement that aims for "freedom from homosexuality through the power of Jesus Christ."
Well, the Jesus I know would be ashamed.
