It seems as if we are living in a backward society and I for one am tired of it.
How many people out there are losing jobs due to the bad economy to only have this happen....
I'm from good old Massachusetts where there are soon to be a new sales tax increase here and there are talks of an MBTA fare increase here.
With regard to the sales tax- Massachusetts borders tax free New Hampshire. Already there has been a flood of people going there for years to avoid paying the sales tax(as long as the price of gas is low enough) and its worth it on big ticket items. But it makes me wonder, what are the politicians thinking. They are only hurting local businesses, especially ones near the border (more so than they already suffer). Is this really a progressive tax or is it just a way to put more money in the pockets of the corrupt politicians who don't have to pay the same premiums for Health Insurance that middle class citizens have to. My health insurance is not subsidized and to make me pay more sales tax on things that I need is complete crap. Are we trying to be Rhode Island, who with a 7% sales tax has the least stable economy in New England.
Are they trying to aspire confidence? It doesn't seem like it. People argue that sales tax is an even distribution unlike a Toll Increase. But my argument is I ride the MBTA. Where is my relief. I'm not tearing up the roads, why should I pay for something I don't use. Also, with the Toll Tax shut down for now, where is the MBTA's relief. MBTA is facing a 20% fare hike which for me means my $59 a month link is going to increase $70 a month. So over the year I will be forced to pay $132 more for less service and more accidents?
I have an idea. How about we stop paying drivers overtime and hire more people to give them jobs? And how about we train them right so there are fewer accidents that doesn't cost 8.6 Million or 9 Million in damages.
I for one am tired of it. And I know complaining wont go far, but it at least makes me feel better for now.
