I normally don't check out Politico's Arena but I happened to look today and it was worth the trip.

Here was today's question:
What "smart political response"--quoting Larry Kudlow--can the GOP craft so that the administration doesn't get credit for an economic recovery?
July 29, 2009
Yousef Munayyer, Policy Analyst, American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee:
Isn’t it obvious? Bush era tax cuts have finally "trickled down".

A wee bit smarter Republican answered that with:
Cesar Conda, Republican strategist, former Romney and Cheney advisor:
Yousef, the Bush-era tax cuts "trickled down" a long time ago. But what happens when they expire in January 2011? Small business income tax rates will rise, the per child tax credit will be slashed, the marraige penalty comes back, the death tax returns to life, and capital gains and dividend taxes will rise from the current 15% to 20 and 39.6%, respectively. If Congress fails to extend the Bush tax cuts, a typical family of four earning $50,000 a year will pay $2,100 more in Federal taxes annually. For most liberal elites, $2,100 is a meaningless trickle-down tax cut, but for most Americans, $2,100 is real money.
This ones pretty good too:
Patrick Dorinson, Commentator and Publisher of The Cowboy Libertarian:
Here’s a little cowboy wisdom for Republicans on the issue of stopping Obama from getting the credit for any recovery.
Beware the pessimist—the sorta hombre who hangs around the train depot and tells everybody the train "is never gonna get here." When it chugs into view, he says, "They’ll never get that thing stopped." When it stops, he says, "Uh huh, they’ll never get that thing started again." When it fires up and heads off, he says, "Well, that’s the last we’ll ever see of that thing."
Use the time between now and the end of the year to work on your own positive agenda. The Democrats are in the middle of a family feud in full view of the American people so let them carve each other up.
And not to worry Republicans, Obama is still in the "blame Bush" mood so I don’t think taking credit for the lingering recession is the first thing on his mind right now.
At any sign of recovery, Obama will step forward and take credit much like the rooster who takes credit for the sun coming up in the morning. And if it doesn’t come up he’ll just blame the sun or another rooster—probably a Republican one.

At least this one was colorful, with the train and rooster illustrations.
Yup, he's a cowboy.
