OBAMA’S APPROVAL RATING IS DROPPING.... SO WHAT?
The media is in a frenzy over the falling job approval ratings for President Obama. They are depicting it as the end of the world for the President and his administration. As usual, the mainstream-media prophets and know-it-alls are creating their own story and stirring up concern where none should really exist.
LET’S LOOK AT THE NUMBERS AND WHAT THEY REALLY MEAN:
Here are the composite job approval numbers for President Obama (as of Thursday, July 30).
Pollster.com: APPROVE: 52.2% DISAPPROVE: 41.7% (net: +10.5%)
RealClearPolitics.com: APPROVE: 53.4% DISAPPROVE: 39.6% (net: +13.8%)
Is the "approval" number down from the previous few months? YES.... But who are those people that caused his "approval number" to drop from the 60’s to the 50’s?
REMINDER! Here are the results of last November’s election.
OBAMA: 52.9% MCCAIN: 45.7% (net +7.2%)
OBVIOUS CONCLUSION: The only people included in the "declining approval" number are people who never supported Obama in the first place. They voted against him less than 9 months ago. Their "approval" of him earlier this year was an artificial approval. They have been waiting to turn away from him, to vindicate their earlier choice at the polls.
The only surprise is that they haven’t all turned to "disapproval." That explains why the "net" approval numbers for the President (+10.5 and + 13.8) are still higher than his margin of victory last November (+7.2%).
Considering the depth of the Bush Recession and the resulting unemployment increases, the President’s numbers are nothing short of amazing!
What the "talking heads" and journalistic Neanderthals fail to point out are the approval-disapproval numbers for the political parties. Here they are (per pollingreport.com):
Fox News (July 22):
DEMOCRATIC PARTY: Favorable: 50% Unfavorable: 41%
REPUBLICAN PARTY: Favorable: 36% Unfavorable: 53%
ABC News/Washington Post (June 21):
DEMOCRATIC PARTY: Favorable: 53% Unfavorable: 43%
REPUBLICAN PARTY: Favorable: 36% Unfavorable: 56%
In simple terms: The people who never supported Barack Obama (and didn’t vote for him) are not now big fans of his. BIG NEWS!
