Just got the email pasted below through the Northwest Indiana for Obama listserv.  Please go if you can; I am on the other side of the world so I won't be able to.

What: Congressman Pete Visclosky town-hall meeting
When: August 3, 2009 6:30 PM (Central time)
Where: Westchester Library Service Center, 100 West Indiana Avenue, Chesterton, IN

It is important that we use this event to show the strength of support for real healthcare reform.  The other side will be there, and their voices must not go unanswered.

Hi everyone,

The NWI chapter of the Patriots will be at the town hall meeting with Congressman Pete Visclosky on Monday August 3 at 6:30 pm.  They plan to be there in large numbers with signs to rally against the health care bill and clean jobs.  Signs will not be allowed in the building,  but  there is only seating for 110 people and the people that can't get in will protest out side.

Alert, we must be there in bigger numbers with signs to off set the media attention our way. The press will be there. Please come to this meeting bring a friend or two.  Have a question or two ready to submit to Congressman Visclosky.

The town hall meeting will be held at the Westchester Library Service Center. 100 West Indiana Avenue, Chesterton, IN 46304 half mile south of 80/94 at rt 49, off South Calumet Ave.

Anyone needing a ride can contact me by phone or e-mail and we will arrange transportation for you.

Its important that we all be there and make our presence known.  Thank you all for all you do, this month will decide the fate of Health care reform and clean energy jobs. Come early to rally.

David Lambeth
NWI Council coordnator

The real opinions of Hoosiers are too often distorted by the press -- get there early and get the word out!  Thank you.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

There have been wingnuts at at least two recent health care demonstrations in NW Indiana and while small in number their presence was noted in local media reports as though their size and acumen was roughly equal to those demanding thoughtful reform.

It is essential that we show up to health care discussions armed with short quotes for the press and that we maintain order and decorum at these meetings.  Please help move reform forward in the public mind by showing up in Chesterton at the Westchester Service Center tomorrow evening at 6 p.m. with a sign suporting health insurance change.  And write a comment and post it here to raise visibility of the event.

Being correct and community minded won't matter if they win the battle for opinion by deception and scare tactics.

  •  I'm reccing this, but I'm afraid that being (5+ / 0-)

posted in the middle of the night means that few will see it before it falls off the recent diary list.  Do you know any Indiana Kossacks (or anyone else) who can post another diary tomorrow afternoon?  I would offer to but I won't be around a computer tomorrow at all.

Maybe you can post it again on Sunday?

    Good luck...
