Ezekiel 34:16 says "I will seek the lost, bring back the scattered, bind up the broken and strengthen the sick; but the fat and the strong I will destroy. I will feed them with judgment." This is how you turn the anger around. Scriptural Jujitsu . . .
So, I'm actually a practicing Buddhist. But it strikes me that many of the folks out there screaming and yelling may be self professed Christians. So, I have found in my "interactions" with them that when I ask that question it invariably is "yes, I'm a Christian". So I ask them if they know their scripture and quote that passage and ask what would Jesus do with 47 million people without an ability to have their wounds bound or their sickness strengthened? That generally shuts em up or they get really, really offended.
We all know who the fat and strong are in this debate, but ask anyway if they can at least agree that insurance companies and the hospital cabals are not indeed "fat" and "Strong" and shouldn't be judged as such?
Either way it makes them stop and think, and that is the takeaway for why I do that.
To make them stop and think if for only a moment.
Have you heard of the Swine Flu I ask? Do you think its smart or stupid to not treat that early so it doesn't spread? But if people cant go to the doctor because they don't have health insurance when they feel sick do you think the chances of it spreading are greater or less for people with no insurance? Another stopper and thinker.
These aren't questions I ask of screaming mobs, but rather neighbor to neighbor interactions or if I hear someone spouting that nonsense about killing our seniors, etc. on buses or the subway. It is strategically about changing one mind at a time and that person will then virally discuss that with someone else etc. That is my hope. Anyway that's my method to work with this.
Its a form of scriptural jujitsu I guess, for lack of a better term.
Try it out, you'll be surprised at how empowering it is.
