Maybe a good way to react to the GOP lies over Democratic plans for healthcare reform is to fight fire with fire...
There is a need to convince many low-information voters that their fears over government-managed healthcare are not warranted, and that it can work. And one way to do that is to point out that the government already administers healthcare well. It’s called Medicare. At the same time, there exists the opportunity to suggest that just like the 1940s, ’50s, and ’60s, the GOP in its heart hates Medicare as much as it hates the current Democratic initiative.
Maybe fighting fire with fire, going negative with a simple, clear message of what the other side is really after, will make a few people wake up. So I designed this bumper sticker.
Feel free to download and reproduce as you wish. Critiques and suggestions for improvement more than welcome.
UPDATE: I've replaced the original version with a slightly different one, using "Kill Health care" instead of the first wording, which, it was rightly pointed-out, incorporated the term "Obamacare," and used the word "Kill" just before the Obama part.
UPDATE 2: I loved the idea from Eileen B. to turn the logo (my version of the GOP logo, not theirs, so no cease and desist order) upside-down, THANKS!! I've also neatened-up my embarrassingly sloppy typography.
All three versions are still available over at Flickr, click on the artwork to get there.
The basic concept has changed with all of the input. Now it's a mocking message, not so much a message to inform the low information voter.
Thanks for all the feedback, feel free to download and use however you wish!
