Fox News has decided to cash in on hatred, bigotry and racism and sadly they are doing very well with this strategy.
Amid a disastrous advertising recession, Fox News posted a 50% rise in profit last quarter and is the only thing making money in Rupert Murdoch's evil empire.
According to TV Newser
News Corp. reported full year adjusted operating income of $3.6 billion, a 32.5% fiscal-year drop. For Q4, the media conglomerate posted a loss of $203 million, compared with earnings of $1.1 billion a year ago.
Chairman Rupert Murdoch singled out the success of Fox News Channel in his release:
The FOX News Channel (FNC) operating income, as compared to the prior year, increased 50% for both the fourth quarter and the full year, primarily from increased affiliate revenues. For the full year, FNC prime time ratings were up 45% compared with the same period a year ago.

Fox News Ratings is also up 45% over the last year, but Unfortunately for Republicans and fortunately for Rupert Murdoch, the more viewers Fox attracts, the more voters the GOP repels. And the more voters the GOP repels, the more viewers Fox attracts.
Fox will continue to ride this wave of anger and resentment irrespective of what impact it has on the Republican Party until it stops making them money. Even with Pres Obama's dropping popularity the GOP are still as unpopular as ever despite sky high ratings for Fox News.

As John Cook of Gawker puts it
The ascendancy of a charismatic black Democrat has driven frightened, paranoid, enraged, nativist zealots into the ideological embrace of an outlet that habitually reconfirms everything they already believe.
Watching Glenn Beck's spell-binding sermons on Barack Obama's racism is comforting to people who believe that their way of life—namely, one in which fatherly white Christians protect us from danger both internal and external—is under attack. So they do it more frequently. Tuning into Hannity et.al. becomes a life-affirming political act.
According to new CNN poll
According to the survey, 44 percent say the country would be better off if the Democrats control Congress, with 34 percent saying it's better if the Republicans controlled Congress.
"By a ten-point margin, Americans say that the country would be better off if the Democrats controlled Congress. That's down from a 15-point advantage in April, but it is very important to note that the change has not helped the Republicans at all," says Holland

Even with the disarray amongst congressional Democrats, bad press and constant lies by wing nuts, Palin's "death Panel", Dems still hold a 10 point advantage over the GOP. The softening of support for Dems is due to mixed messages on healthcare. We need a unified message on healthcare so the public understands what we stand for. President Obama did that eloquently today but Sen specter's performance was weak, he was basically unprepared for wingnuts talking points.
Keep it up Fox, keep making the GOP toxic to independents.
Update:
Bill gloats
He began: "Fox News explodes, while the liberal media burns."
O'Reilly said there's one major reason right now: "While the other network news broadcasts downplay the dissent, and promote the government takeover of the health care industry, Fox News highlights the intense debate
