I dont know how many people saw this, but Anthony weiner just made the best, most intelligent case for healthcare reform I have heard in years.
He went on Morning Joe, and in a very clear, calm way, told Joe that he wanted to expand Medicare for all Americans.
He asked the basic question that has failed to be asked by any other leading Democrat with the exception of Independent Bernie Sanders. He asked what is the purpose of Insurance companies. That Medicare can do the same exact thing with no over head, no advertising, and is a system that seniors already love!!
The problem with our party is that they always get to cute in trying to explain something. They dont know that the simplest message is the best message, espesially when you are right on an issue.
You ask people if they want to go into a single payer system for all, and they respond, Whats that?
If you say we are going to provide a public option that is Goverment run, they say, Goverment run, yuck!
If you say, I want to provide Medicare for everyone, and screw the insurance companies, they say, OK, I like Medicare, and fuck those blood sucking leeches!!
This is what I have been saying for months!! Simple message about the public option should have been that it will be very similar to medicare!!!
We have gone so wrong! We have lost our voice!
If you say you are going to give medicare to all, I would love to see the Republicans attack Medicare with the vigor they are attacing the public option. They would be scared to death to attack something that seniors love so much!!
Republicans would also be in the position of having to defend insurance companies to people who really dont like insurance companies.
That is a lose lose for them.
The great thing is that Weiner didnt get scooted off the stage like what happens to so many other people who make a great point on that show. He actually stayed for three segments and left Joe completlty speechless because there was no way to defend the insurance companies, and there was no way Joe wanted to say that medicare was a bad thing.
It was a perfect example of the bind Republicans would be in if we went in this direction. Joe, who normally will shout over guests really had no answer to the question Weiner asked him like 5 times.
Weiner. Q What do we really get for all the costs the insurance companies give us?
Joe A Ugh, Ugh, Stutter, Ugh. No answer. he couldnt.
Medicare for all is cheaper, already in place, people like it, and the insurance industry would have a hard time talking people out of Medicare for private insurance!!
If someone can get the video, and post it, it could be beautiful!!!
Cant believe I made the Rec List!! First time!
If someone can tell me how to Post the video, I would be more then happy too.
