For the last two or three days, Personal Anti-Virus has chosen to visit my computer and alerted me that I had sixty-some 'seriously crucial' viruses that needed to be fixed Now! And for $59.99, personalav could take care of them, permanently.
Meanwhile, I ran the Full Monty Norton scan and it detected nothing, nada, nil that needed to be removed - not even personalav, which since it not a virus, couldn't be identified as such. Since I hadn't paid for it, I couldn't uninstall it. Personalav blocked almost all access to the internet. I finally Googled personalav and found "Personalav is from the same family as Personal Anti-Virus. It is a fake security software which used fradulent strategies by displaying false or exaggerated issues on your computer rather than any legitimate ones to coerce you into purchasing their software." I also found I was not alone...
I purchased Spyware Doctor ($49.00) and it seems to be working, but personalav blocked my attempts to install it numerous times, so you have to be quick. Also found numerous other software offering the same protection, Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware.
Offered as a malware alert only, and if it is inappropriate, I will delete.
