I'm from a beautiful small town in Washington. Mount Vernon was named Best small city in America in 1998. We host the Tulip Festival every year, where thousands descend on our picturesque valley to view the beautiful flowers (we sell more than all of Holland!) Heck, Jesus even attended my high school! (Thank you Jim Caviezel) But now... Now I just don't know about it. You see, while Edward R. Murrow lived just up the road in the small town of Bow, our most notable journalist to herald Mount Vernon as home at one point is none other than Glen Beck.
And our mayor is considering giving him the key to the city.
This is just not acceptable. The mayor is a non-partisan position and there is no one more partisan than Beck. Celebrating him in ANY town would be reprehensible, but to say that I have to share my hometown with him is even worse. And to see that town claim him as a hero and someone to be celebrated? I don't know if I'll ever be able to go home.
Please, contact our mayor's office and tell them that, as a citizen of America, no city should be honoring this man. No non-partisan position should celebrate the dichotomies this man builds. Let them know that America would never expect this type of action from their "best small city".

Sorry for the short diary, but I'm too outraged to rant more about how much I loath the man sharing my home. I'm living on the beautiful San Juan Islands for a week, and I wish I didn't have this hanging over my head. Thank you for any help you can be.
