Okay, I promised a few people I'd post a diary of wedding pics, so here it is...a day later than I planned, for I felt it inappropriate yesterday in light of Kennedy's passing. Anyway, here's the story in pictures...
(I'll keep the images small for the most part)
First, my last drive across the Golden Gate before the rehearsal and wedding...
Update [2009-8-27 19:35:12 by darthstar]: Lots of people seem to like the dress. So here's the URL to the designer's website...she is located just south of the ballpark in Seattle.
http://www.wai-ching.com
My sister's yard
Chris (a good friend's son) and Matt, who learned "The Bear Necessities" in three weeks to play us down the aisle...
Upper tier of yard where we ate (no before pics of the middle tier where the bar and band were):
Okay...on to the ceremony...
Ring bearer (Close friend's son wearing blue/white spectators just like mine)
Flower girls (my nieces):
Maid of Honor (bride's sister with a dress made by the same designer)...
Best Man (my brother):
Me.
And the most beautiful woman on the planet:
(by the way, is it wrong for the groom to cry at his own wedding, because when I first saw her coming down the steps in that dress, I freakin' lost it...)
Our officiant, a cousin from Seattle who also happens to be a US Marshall...as well as an ordained minister
And yes, we did get to kiss...
and a first dance...
though of course the Bride's father had to cut in, so I obliged...
The menu was fantastic, but I don't have the food pictures handy, but here's a general run-down of what we had...
Appetizers (and we went with all locally grown foods):
Sonoma Lamb Lollipops
Deviled Eggs with black olives and ahi tuna
Bacon wrapped fingerling potato slices
White corn Polenta cakes with Sonoma Foie Gras and Blackberries
Oyster Shooters (ice luge for chilling the vodka)
Mains:
Heirloom Tomato Salad (it was gorgeous)
Arugula and Pecorino salad
Steamed local squashes
Potato Gratin with Cowgirl Creamery Mt. Tam cheese
Chicken stuffed with Kasseri Cheese and herbs
Flat-iron steak
Dessert: assorted Cowgirl Creamery cheeses (blue, Humboldt Fog, and one other) and locally grown figs, strawberries, and walnuts.
There was also a children's buffet of Mac-n-Cheese (same gals' cheese), PB&J sandwiches, and fresh strawberries and watermelon.
Of course, we had a cake (as I'm a ski patroller, the groom's cake got the decoration, while the wedding cake just had blackberries and gold leaf).
and a guest book
and to finish off the Lake Tahoe connection, we got the band that plays every Friday and Saturday night at Garwoods to come and keep things festive...
and when it got too cold later, we brought them inside and stretched the party out a little longer...
All in all, it was a wonderful time...of course I had to do something dorky given the company I work for...
Though I will say, I inherited my dorkiness...when the photographer tried to get a family photo, the 70s mix we were playing happened to play "The Age Of Aquarius" from Hair, and the only family photos we got were of everyone dancing and spinning...appropriate, I suppose.
Update [2009-8-27 19:0:22 by darthstar]: Hell, if I knew I'd make the rec list I would have gotten married earlier! Thanks everyone.
