I tried to find something that a republican senator has done to help the poor, and to help small business. As we all know, the GOP is always crying about protecting small business.
First search: Republican senator fights for the poor
Next: Republican senator helps the poor
Then: Republican senator fights for small business
Well, there wasn't much. Try it. A lot of articles on how a republican senator said that he or she was for small business, really nada of substance. Actually, some of the material was reporting how some members of the GOP would like to raise taxes on small business to pay for health insurance reform. That's great. And even some articles about a republican senator blocking legislation to help small business.
As far as helping the poor, well that really came up a dud. The only meaningful hit I got was the boilerplate website of senator Richard Burr, North Carolina. He hates the public option, and wants to give every taxpayer $2,700 a year tax rebate to buy their own insurance. Boy what a guy. For that you might get 3 months of crapcan Blue Cross, unless you had a pre-existing condition, which I'm sure we all do.
I guess my point is, with the passing of Ted Kennedy, thinking about what each party stands for, I don't see what the republicans have to offer the American people.
