Organizing for America held a Rally for the Public Option today in Newport Beach, Orange County, sponsored by several other pro-health insurance reform organizations. About 300 souls showed up with placards, American flags, and a lot of spirit. The group stood on 3 corners of a busy intersection.
In the other corner was a small gaggle of wingnuts, the really crazy kind, maybe a tenth the size of the pro-health reform rally. Occasionally, one would come over to the pro-reform corners to argue, it was kind of pathetic how delusional the BushBots are. When informed that one of their talking points is a lie, they just move on to the next talking point, like robots.
The news media showed up, including the local ABC affiliate, the Latino station, and various print reporters, including one from the LA Times. It was apparent that even in the heart of Orange County, the wingnuts are pretty weak, and support for health insurance reform is strong.

With 300 people on a street corner, it looked fairly impressive, but the wingnuts looked pathetic. There may have been 30 of them, most were about tyranny. I asked one of them if they wanted to cancel Medicare, and the response was "yeah".
With a 10 to 1 ratio in the rally, it was obvious to everyone that even in the heart of conservative Orange County, California, there is a lot of support for health insurance reform.
My suggestion to you: push back away from your computer, and get out into the streets to show America that you, and many other Americans, support health insurance reform. Tell us what YOU are doing, not what you want US to do (to paraphrase some recent president).
UPDATE: Thanks for the recommends!
