It has been in the news here in Arizona that a preacher named Steven Anderson in Tempe, Arizona preached in a sermon before the president arrived in Phoenix that he allegedly hoped that Obama would die like a snail and that he hated Obama. In attendance was a man that carried an assault rifle several days later at the event at which Obama was to speak.
Pastor Steven Anderson also allegedly preached that he thought all homosexuals should be shot.

This is the type of disgusting behavior which has destroyed and is continuing to destroy not only the democratic civilization of Arizona but of the United States of America as well. We ask that you please join us in publicly standing non-violently against these hate-mongering clergy who are liable to be the cause of the next act of American terrorism by the hateful brain washed people they are provoking to violence against our loved ones and our family. If we do not stand against these hate mongering clergy now, then we are inviting them to spread like a cancer not only throughout Arizona but throughout the United States as well. This is a noble non-violent act of resistance against those who are out to destroy the unity of our country and our American civilization.
Thank you,

We have some new information to give you: Our group contacted the city of Tempe's mayor and vice mayor but the secretary stated that both were out of the office and she didn't know when they would return, surprise...surprise. I explained to her that I had given her the information and left on the Vice Mayor's phone the same message imploring the Mayor and Vice Mayor of Tempe to speak out against religious extremist who through their preaching that advocate violence or strongly imply violence, i.e. the calling for the shooting of homosexuals and the strong implication of violence towards our beloved president Barack Obama by hoping and praying (Para-phrasing the Tempe Minister) that the president dies.
I further related to them that the mayor and the vice mayor are not the only political and religious leaders we are calling upon to renounce and denounce the violence being advocated for by this religious extremist clergyman in Tempe, Arizona. Further, I stated to the secretary that:
Since this religious extremist was in Tempe and had the same man attending it who was outside the president's speech with an assault rifle when he spoke in Phoenix last month that there was a danger of imminent violence by this clergyman or by his followers that he was advocating violence to. Let us make no mistake...our political leaders are afraid to speak out against this religious extremist for fear of losing votes (one of the officials I contacted, whom I shall not name state this belief to me). Yes, progressive brothers and sisters as incredible as it may seem that while our political leaders are decrying the horrible image of Arizona, none of them are speaking publicly out against this religious extremist in Tempe or for that matter religious extremism itself.
One has to look no farther than 1993 when Timothy McVeigh (one of the terrorist behind the bombing of the Federal Building in Oklahoma City) carried out his cruel, monstrous act and after of which hardly any conservative politicians spoke out against the bombing. The tragedy here brothers and sisters is that our religious and political leaders have within their hands the power to curtail and quite probably have the chance to lessen violent domestic acts of terrorism here in Arizona and the United States of America by speaking out and calming down their parishioners but instead...sadly we have not heard their leaders and now this...
One of the members of our group has called the Diocese of Phoenix and asked if the bishop or its clergy would speak out against religious violence. This particular member of our group got a call back and was told by a priest speaking for the diocese of Phoenix that they didn't get involved in these kinds of issues and that they would wait and see what happens in regards to this religious extremist in Tempe.
Well, there we have it...City of Tempe: "Sorry the Mayor and the Vice Mayor are out and we don't know when they'll be back and..."We don't get involved.
