There is a small group of fringe Ideologues in the Democratic party that threaten to block President Obama from making good on his Promise to the American People to reform the healthcare system in this country. Despite popular support for key provisions in the health care bill, they are insisting on blocking the bill in general if they don't get their way on one provision. This group needs to be called out by the President to show that he is not subservient to the more extreme elements in the Democratic party. This group of fringe Democrats has, for too long, held the Democratic party back from governing for all Americans and not just for the extreme few. The group which I speak of is none other then the Corporate wing of the Democratic party.
Despite overwhelming public support for a public option, which has been illustrated in poll after poll, this small group is determined to serve the will of their small constituency (Insurance and Phama Corporations) and subvert the popular will. It is time that Obama stand up to this extreme, small element public ally and unapologetically and inform the American people who this small band of renegades actually represents.
Until he does, this group will block any and all meaningful reforms the President campaigned on and was elected to enact.
If he does indeed call these people out, he will show both the main stream Democrats and Independents that he is not captive to the same special interests that he so forcefully and eloquently denounced during his campaign. It will show once and for all that real change has come to Washington.
