Dear President Obama,
I can't express to you the heartbreak that I've been feeling over the last few months. I've put so much effort and hope into your promise of change, only to find one disappointment after another. I won't list them, sir, because I know you're well aware of what they are. I will say this, however.
This health care "debate"? It's not a debate. It's a battle between what is right and what is wrong. It's a battle between everything a correct society, a collection of many people forming one single organism that is America, and a cancer of greed and social Darwinism, that will eventually turn America's middle class into nothing more than "third world" citizens, and it's happening now. Not twenty years from now. We can't wait.
I AM a health care worker. My first question to EVERY patient, by the nature of my job, is "Who is your insurance carrier?" and I am forced much too often, (even once, is much too often) to turn them away. In THIS COUNTRY?? REALLY????
I believe in Medicare for EVERYONE. I believe in single-payer, but that is sadly off the table. What I will say is this. I will settle for no less than a robust public option. If this is not at the very least, what you fight for, than I make this promise to you. I will never support the Democratic party again. I know you must be thinking what options are there? Would I actually throw my money and energy away on the Green Party? You see, I feel very much that all my past efforts so far, were completely wasted, and I'm so sorry for being so harsh. I'm sorry, because I feel, you are a good man, with noble intentions. Please understand how much I respect you, and deeply fathom the many challenges you face. This, however, is the breaking point of our society, and we need strong, non-compromising leadership. Mr. President, do the right thing.
Please!
