Republican Party of Florida Chairman Jim Greer's Words to Live By
"There is nothing inappropriate about a multimillion-dollar organization with senior staff traveling around the country to have credit cards," he said, adding at one point that "If you're going to ask major donors to write $100,000 checks, I hope you bought them dinner."
Yes Jim, exactly. Dinner is the least you could do. More likely they were expecting something more substantial. I see what you mean Jim. They comp the whales at the Casino too. But the difference is that the casino wins but the whales lose. In this case the whales win and the public loses.
"I made a decision Monday that I was tired of hearing about this stuff, even though there's noting inappropriate occurring," Greer said.
I'm sure that the family and friends that ex-Florida House Speaker brought with him as part of his entourage to the European economic summit had standards that had to be maintained and that's why he racked up $170,000 in charges on the American Express credit card.
Must be sweet, hey. Expensive vacation for family and friends on somebody else's dime. And that credit card - don't leave home without it.
Republican political strategist Roger Stone's blog at stonezone.com:
We now know that ex-Florida House Speaker Ray Sansom ran up at least $170,000 in inappropriate charges on his Republican Party of Florida American Express card, including a lavish European vacation
Gosh, it sounds bad. Is it strictly legal to put the rose on the credit card with somebody else's nickel? Hmmm
State Rep. Ray Sansom's lavish use of his Republican Party-issued credit card has triggered a complaint to the Internal Revenue Service.
An anonymous person filled out a complaint and made it available to the Herald/Times on Monday, alleging Sansom violated tax law by using party funds for personal items such as plane tickets to Europe for his family and not declaring it as income.
The complaint also alleges political corruption and suggests the IRS investigate other GOP officials who had American Express cards.
Political corruption? Other officials? Golly!
