Standard disclaimer: Leave your loathing of meta, World of Warcraft, or community diaries outside. If you think we should be playing your MMO instead, start a guild and write a recruitment diary. Don't leave a comment here and then get all hurtful when it isn't received with flowers and candy. Link to your recruitment diary is OK though.

Standard advertisement: Wreck List is the Daily Kos World of Warcraft guild. We are Horde-side on the Garrosh server. To join, roll up a character on Garrosh and when you log in type
        /who wreck list

and any officer can get you in the guild. Yes, you have to be Horde. No, you don't have to be hardcore - casuals, PvPers, and people that just want to hang out on guild chat are all welcome.

As discussed, this diary is now appearing on Tuesdays, since the server is down anyway. No one seemed to hate the idea, so here we are! A little movement in the guild achievement rankings, and some hope for progression this week. Below the fold...

We had our share of trouble on Razorscale this week, and were short a tank for day two of Ulduar. So instead, we decided to make a move to 10-man Naxx, but with only 8 people. We successfully cleared Naxx with 8, and the only boss that gave us trouble was Kel'Thuzad. So we move up in the 10-man strict achievement rankings, with 25 points for Dedicated Few, and 10 for Subtraction (Thaddius with only 8). The Four Horsemen aren't required, but we took them down anyway.

Currently holding at 39 of 46 on Progression, same as last week. On Achievement, we've moved up from 41st to 38th of 46. For those of you who look at these numbers and say, "wow, they're low" -- well, they are. But not when you take into account the server existed three months longer than our guild has, and that many guilds who came over were full transfers of 80s. When we started, we had me. That's it. So our progression is faster than that of other guilds. This fact shows because our first achievement was 61st on realm, and our latest was 28th.

If you're interested in tracking Wreck List, you can do so here for Progression, and here for Achievements.

We had some debate about the use of Failbot in raids. People disagree with the concept of public criticism. I stand on the side that criticism from people, either public or private, is worse than the impersonal machine doing it. Some consensus was reached that we should use it on content that we're screwing up badly as a whole.

To that end, I am going to start running it in current progression, as well as anything we're going back to try the hard way. So when we're trying to do Thaddius without screwing up Polarity once for an achievement, I'll haul it out. When we're just trying to kill him, I won't. I feel it is very important to use, despite the fact it's rather dickish in its tone (Ed fails at void zones!), because it tells you things even you don't know you're screwing up sometimes.

Everyone, please keep the following in mind when it comes to Failbot:

  1. It is always right. If it says you stood in fire, you stood in fire. It doesn't generate false positives that I've seen.
  1. It doesn't understand circumstance. If you are shielded from damage and snapping off a crucial heal to the tank, then Failbot's right -- you stood in fire -- but you did what was right for the moment. So if you see a fail notice that you don't deserve, don't criticize the program -- just ignore it and move on.
  1. It is a training tool. I am not using this thing so everyone can see what a failure you are at moving out of fire. I am using it so you can see your mistakes -- because if you knew you were making the same ones all the time, you'd correct them. That's why it's there.

Discussion on this is going strong. Next week I will post a diary with more devoted to the subject, and a poll to choose from the choices that come into existence. So hit the forums and have your say, if you haven't yet.

One consensus is appearing, and that's that people want a change. If you don't feel that way, speak up!

Rumor has it that Thrall will appoint a new Warchief in the expansion. None other than psychotic nutbar, Garrosh Hellscream. (Why'd we join his server, anyway?)

Check out the top 150 better choices for Warchief than Garrosh here. Because anything's better than Garrosh.

See you when the server's up!

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
