Clearly, I was disgusted by Rep. Joe Wilson's outrageous show of disrespect towards President Obama tonight. He's a despicable, shameful excuse for a public representative. No question.
But we can't let him win this game. Looking at the recommended diaries, the top two are about this joke of a pubic official. That's what he wants — to distract from the real mission of tonight.
Namely, President Obama's big speech.
The President spoke eloquently, inspiring his fellow Democrats and the American people. He made a moving tribute to Teddy Kennedy, and he outlined the change we need.
He also, at least in some ways, backed our biggest priority, the public option.
Let's talk about all that, what the speech did, what it didn't do, what happens from here. What we have to do, what Congress has to do, etc.
Let's not let some obscure, irrelevant political caveman ruin that.
