After a long weekend of my father being in the hospital and listening to the doctors that didn't give a damn about him... I recorded Countdown w/ KO, but then I realized it was the presidential joint session with congress. So, I decided to watch it. I just wanted to hear 2 beautiful words: public option. I also really wanted President Obama to crush the ridiculous rumors circling around. He did both, and I was very pleased.
...but therein lies the issue
Last night's speech reminded me of a high school assembly. These idiots (yes, after last night, I have deemed it appropriate to call them idiots) were worse than high school students. These republican congressmen acted like children throwing a fit in a grocery store when their mommy's wouldn't buy them ice cream. Seriously? This is the United States Congress... I am shocked. I am a 22 year old college student, and I would never act like that, much less anyone I know.
I don't know if any of you saw this... (thank you DVR) but when Obama compared the public option to community colleges, the man sitting next to Mccain started the motion of clapping. (I believe it was Graham) then when he realized no one else in his section of backpeddling, medicare hating, money whoring, losers was clapping... he began to rub his hands together. (This reminded me of school children as well: raising their hand with the answer and then scratching the back of their head when they realized they had no clue what was going on)
It was 3am when I watched this... I got my brother out of bed twice to laugh at the trainwreck of the right wing. Also... what the hell were these guys holding up when he rest of the room was clapping? And who the hell has the utter ignorance to text on their phone while the President of the United States of America is talking directly to you? (Oh yeah.. Cantor) I'm so sick of this bull. When the conservatives finally did stand up (for the part of the bill they do support) it was very apparent that none of them were paying attention in the first place. (I think they heard the word 'money' or something)
I never thought in my entire life I would witness such ignorance coming from one room.
This bill is about people. No man, woman, or child should ever have to put a price on their life. The entire idea of private health care does not make sense. If it is a business... then it is about money. The more people you turn away from the system... the more money you get. This is about money. The fact that these idiots (yes, I called them idiots again) are so ignorant that they think we don't see that, bothers me a great deal. Money makes the world go 'round I guess; the rest of the population can rot in hell. The rich have inherited the world and don't care about anyone but themselves. [sarcasm] Let's rape the planet. Let's let all the weak die off. Let's start meaningless wars for black gold. Because jesus is coming back... and we want him to be proud of the smoldering hateful rock we left behind. [/sarcasm]
I can't wait to see Olbermann's analysis on what happened last night. I just wish I had a megaphone in this small redneck town and a giant projector to show how these republicans acted.
**Feel free to add the tags of the people I mentioned. I probably misspelled their names... but really, who is going to know these people in 10 years? They will just be a small section is a circulated American History book labeled: "The Rise and Fall of the Party of No"**
