Well, the fallout from Barry "ballgame" Obama's walk off grand Slam of speech continues and just keeps getting weirder. Now that it looks like Rep Joe Wilson's outburst is going to cost him roughly $142524.75 a letter and climbing (Update $152,000 as of 9:37 pm EDT-go you Magnificent Kossacks, GO!), it appears another Republican masochist has decided to step up to take her licks.
Unemployed sportscaster, Facebook devotee and former Wasilla High point guard: Sarah "Death Panel" Palin has officially eclipsed even Rep Wilson for the biggest Oh NO she DIDN'T moment of the night:
She complained about OBAMA's lack of Civility
Really. I couldn't make this stuff up:
"In his speech the President directly responded to concerns I've raised about unelected bureaucrats being given power to make decisions affecting life or death health care matters," Palin wrote. "He called these concerns "bogus," "irresponsible," and "a lie" -- so much for civility."
Yes, THAT Sarah Palin the woman who kicked off Wharrgarblpalooza 09-The Town Hall Tour with this charming bit of fiction that was apparently the result of reading the health care bill while somebody watched Logan's Run in the background:
The America I know and love is not one in which my parents or my baby with Down Syndrome will have to stand in front of Obama's 'death panel' so his bureaucrats can decide, based on a subjective judgment of their 'level of productivity in society,' whether they are worthy of health care. Such a system is downright evil."
Yes, the SAME Sarah Palin that said that Just accused SOMEONE ELSE of lacking civility- with a straight face apparently- and no, near as I can tell Obama isn't sporting a goatee, so we can rule out having fallen through a time-space warp into a parallel dimension. Which really only leaves two other possibilities
- She is trying to win the Nobel Prize for Chutzpah
or
2)
and Since I'm pretty sure Palin thinks Chutzpah is a side dish they serve during Fiesta Week at Applebee's; I'm a gonna pick #2; especially since it does seem to be an Epidemic in the republican party lately From Cheney having the gall to accuse OBAMA of politicizing the justice department, to a certain southern Senator of the minority party demanding the president whose party has the biggest margins in Congress since FDR, "show humility" The GOP has become the Party of Projection. As a wise man recently said:
"If you want to know what the Republicans are up to, then look at what they are accusing the Democrats of doing"
The sad thing is, in Sarah's case she may not even be aware she's doing ti. I actually think that in her heart of hearts, Sarah actually believes that big bad Obama really IS being mean to her, by calling her a liar, when all she did was tell the "truth" about the health care bill.
She can believe this because for someone like Sarah a "truth" is something that is real and accurate even if it doesn't happen to match up with the facts as an object observer knows them. The moral rightness of a "truth" makes its factuality irrelevant. Thus it was "true" when she said she read ALL the newspapers everyday. Even though according the house guest/grandbaby daddy Levi Johnston she never even so much as leafed through the local rag, her statement is still "true" because SHE believes she's well informed and that statement is a way of saying that.
Similarly if Obama reacts in a negative way to her "truth" about him being a genocidal maniac bent on eugenics-driven euthanasia, well since it certainly couldn't be any thing SHE said, it MUST be because he's just an ill-tempered lout who doesn't take well to "honest" criticism of his policies.
This would be amusing/an interesting case study in the mechanics of self-delusion if she weren't the current GOP front-runner for 2012. To me that takes it from funny to scary as all hell.
