Ok, I was watching TV early this morning at a one-day surgery center while waiting for my daughter to have a test, and the TV was on in the waiting room...this was about 8:00 am Eastern. CNN was covering the 9/12 rally and the teaparty today in D.C. Had a couple of reporters on the scene and interviewed some of the participants.....where was the media when we demonstrated against the Iraq war? And why aren't they covering the demonstrations around the country in favor of healthcare reform?
The reporter was hyping the crowd number too! And CNN is framing this as a debate between these "grassroots" demonstrators who want smaller government and no takeover of healthcare....the people who were interviewed expressed outrage that the government "is taking over" everything and taxing us too much and increasing the deficit. Where the hell were these people when Bush was spending billions in Iraq? And hiding the figures off the books? It is pathetic to me that the rage that these people feel is so poorly expressed, but that the lobbying by the health insurance industry and their lobbyists at Freedom Works have been able to totally dupe these people! Freedom Works has tapped into the rage and steered it into opposition to the government....and to Obama personally. Ok, I get that. There are dumbass people who will swallow almost anything, but CNN is giving these people a real platform and lots of attention today.....it just pisses me off.
