My Facebook friends list includes people from all walks of life. People from the street where I grew up, high school and college friends, work friends, church friends, neighborhood friends – even blog friends who I have never met.
Not surprisingly, these individuals reside in every corner of US. Straight, gay, married and single, Christian, atheist, and every color of the political spectrum from the extreme left to the far right, and every ideology in between.
Some, like myself, will occasionally use the Facebook status bar to support a cause or make a political point. And I wanted to share with you something that took me by surprise last week...
Now Facebook is supposed to be fun, so I avoid getting into political wars. I encourage like-minded posters, I correct blatant errors and I ignore wing-nut opinions.
Recently, healthcare has been a hot topic. But I’ve noticed a dramatic shift in many of my Republican friends since Wednesday night. Let me share with you a few examples:
BEFORE the speech:
I CANT AND I CANT IMAGINE WHY ANY ONE WOULD WANT THIS --ITS SCARY
One comment I must say about health care reform – which anyone who knows me I am against – if I don’t expect any one to pay for my car or my food or my mortgage or electric bill then why should I expect someone to pay for my healthcare???
Go ahead hop in your car with Obama driving and your final destination will be brokeville USA
NOTE TO OBAMA: YOUR HEALTH CARE REFORM SUCKS!!!!!!!!!
AFTER the speech:
Are you sitting down? I Ms. Republican am having a different mindset for Mr Obama. After his speech and his ideas I am impressed that there are many problems in the U.S.A. and at least he has some solutions or a plan – now if Congress can just get on board and agree instead of being so divided, maybe we can move forward and show the world what we already know – that we are the best country in the world!
We will get great leaders when we demand them, last night I heard a leader. Five stars for the President
I must admit that Obama’s basic goals in the health care reform seem on point. I hope Congress will come together and get the job done!
He put to rest the big social medicine issue that I was concerned about......this is not a rebublican or democratic issue it is an american issue. And we as americans have to not feed into the nonsense of Nancy Pelosi's evil eyes and Joe Wilson "you lie". Grow up assholes!
Just so it's clear, the before and after comments above are from the same group of individuals. Now that’s change I can believe in. Well done, Mr. President.
