Apparently law enforcement officials have learned nothing from the Stonewall weekend Fort Worth police and liquor authority rain on a gay bar in Fort WOrth that led to several dismissals, demotions, reassignments, and a slew of pending civil lawsuits.
More over the jump.
Atlanta Cops Raid Local Gay Bar - Terrorise Patrons For No Reason
Apparently it is now perfectly acceptable to raid a bar with massive numbers of officers and ordinance, slam people around (including senior citizens who do not 'move fast enough') to the floor - and not only refuse to answer their perfectly reasonable questions in a civil manner, but actually TAUNT AND INSULT not only them, but their race, religion, and sexual orientation.
And all because of some minor misdemeanor infraction that normally results in the writing of an issuance ticket - and no more.
But apparently the same rules do not hold if the business in question is a gay bar.
Where is the local political structure on this - the local GLBT organizations - and most important of all, the MEDIA?
PLEASE e-mail or link notice of this to your friends and families. Word needs to get out about yet another civil rights violation by law enforcement professionals who are supposed to know better! And heads need to roll at any and all levels that authorized and carried out this police-state-like 'raid' for so dubious a reason as given in the article.
