Who are these people who sit in large rooms within cubicles deciding who gets this or that medical treatment, who has a "pre-existing" condition, who doesn't get another month to make a mortgage payment, who says the electricity is being shut off?
We are three months behind on our mortgage. On Friday I attempted to make a one month payment on the phone. The woman told me they "couldn't" and told me I needed to make at least two payments. This is a bank that we have reached out and kept abreast and in contact since we fell behind. A bank that has held this mortgage for nearly 10 years and which has never been delinquent in all that time. Never. My hubby is in the process of doing a loan modification, which at this stage is basically filling out an application.
The woman on the phone said she "couldn't" take the payment and she noticed that when we were offered "help" thru the loan program during our last two calls she stated my hubby "refused". I was taken aback. One because he has started the process (and has the process number to prove it, although I didn't have it during the call) and two, her use (and tone) of the word "refuse". I told her he didn't refuse, he just didn't have the information they needed at the moment to do it over the phone. He is self-employed and he wanted/needed to give the correct information and preferred to have the questions written in front of him. The response? "Whatever". Well, I asked to speak to a supervisor and was connected to an answering machine and needless to say I'm still waiting for a call back.
This is my fear....much like random yahoos who say yes or no to medical treatments then some random yahoo at these banks can press the foreclosure button. It's so fucking scary.
To wrap up, when my hubby called and told the person who answered what happened that person happily took the one payment and waived all telephone fees and apologized. Just some random yahoo that was nice and helpful.
Thank you for allowing me my rant.
