I looked to see what was new on the site of Time Magazine and their cover story is Glenn Beck.
I read part of it to see if they took him to task, or called him on his damaging run, ect. It was nothing special. Just your usual bio story and what makes them notable and about the fear of 'average americans' and his tapping into the 'populist' mood of the country.
Drivel and shallow and ignoring the vitriolic hatred that is the mood of the country.
But, one of the things that jumped out at me was the fact that he is ADHD.

When my husband's family has their annual reunion with the aunts, uncles and cousins, ect., it is like attending an ADD convention.
Some, like my husband, have straight ADD. Some, like his brother and son, have ADHD. I know ADHD well from an observant position and being married to someone with ADD.
It perfectly explains Beck.
The ongoing conversations that go nowhere and on and on. The jumping into conspriacy theories at a the drop of a hat. The jumping around on theory to theory. Childish tantrums on air with anyone who disagrees with him (this is something I never saw with any of my husband's family but, have read temper is a big problem with ADHD. Easily frustrated). The nonsense and the shallow. That comes from a lack of focus.
Most people with ADHD are that they are engaging, likable and curious. But, they grow bored easily and become annoying quickly unless they are given complete direction.
I am guessing the 'Obama is racist' is something that just came to him shortly before or during his interview on the Fox morning program. His paranoia may be from something that was suggested to him and he bought it and built it up. One thing that is working for him and the key to his big success right now is the ADHD ability to take something small and build it into a huge mountain - and come to believe it himself.
Spinning stories and having the conviction they are true is very ADHD. So, the stuff that starts out as a bit becomes real for him and something he obsesses on.
Czars anyone?
And he will tire of the story one day and just drop it and obsess on some other molehill to pump up. This fits into the republicans smearing of Obama's character But, he makes it seem true because he actually believes it.
The dangerous thing is his belief in his stories.
The good news is that Beck will grow tired of his schtick and even his audience.
ADHD people without meds grow bored and restless easily and need to move on to other things. But, the mess left behind can be huge.
My husband says he gives people with ADD a bad name.
