Can't sleep? Is the hum of the blogosphere keeping you awake? Well, to help me settle into dreamland, I usually read a book. And tonight's book is a special one that I have just bought.
More below the fold.
Yep, that's the book I'm going to be reading. All of you who watch "The Rachel Maddow Show" are no doubt acquainted with The Family, a startling expose into the religious-political group of which several members of congress, including Senators Tom "Coo-Coo" Coburn and John "Pay Her" Ensign and Representatives Zach Wamp, Chris Pickering, Mark Sanford (when he was a congressman), and Bart Stupak.
Jeff Sharlet, who lived with "The Family" for a whole year has written this book chronicling his experiences and his discoveries amongst this covert organization. Their goal is to remake the world in their image. They also spurn the name "Christian", preferring the more intimate-sounding "Follower of Christ."
Anyway, I saw this paperback for sale at my college bookstore with a 30% off sticker on it and I thought to myself: "why not."
I hope it is as enjoyable to read and is as illuminating as it sounds.
Good-night and good luck, Kossacks! I leave you now with some awesome British comedy:
